SoundStage1520 is a great radio alternative for the
up and coming musician and songwriter. While a new or local artist may struggle to be heard on a big corporate station
in the city, a show like SoundStage1520 on a smaller, privately owned station in the 'burbs offers a better
opportunity to get on the air and be heard. And with the advent of online streaming, a smaller station has the worldwide
web reach that the corporate stations have.
I host a radio program at a
small station in South Eastern Pennsylvania. I do, and have done, everything from board-op to production work, to on-air shifts
for 3 different radio stations in the Philadelphia radio market. I'm currently hosting/producing a show I'm calling
SoundStage1520, that features local and regional bands and singer/songwriters. What I offer is a platform where
a musician can come in to the studio, talk about his or her music, play a few songs live, a few songs from any CDs they have
available, and promote upcoming gigs.
I'm hoping to help local and regional musicians
connect with a larger or new audience.

How the show works... I contact you through MySpace or some other means (I may even see you at a concert) and ask if you are interested in coming on to the show. Alternately,
you contact me through MySpace or some other means. We choose a mutually agreeable date, book it and
you come to the station. (The show is often booked well in advance) When you come in, we set up in the broadcast room.
We talk about your music, upcoming gigs, CDs available, and you play 3 or 4 songs live. Once the show is broadcast, the
recording I made of the show is made available for on demand listening as a podcast. So if anyone misses the live broadcast either over the air or on the web stream, they can still catch the show whenever
they wish.

The good ol' days
at WCOJ.
What a job! It was a fun ride at WCOJ. That's
where I learned most of what I know about radio. I'll always be indebted to Chuck Hertzog (for hiring me), Robert Henson
(for showing me what a professional is, and for teaching me how to conduct oneself on the air), Joe Harnett & PJ
Mullen (thanks PJ and Joe for all the production tips), and JT Morgan (for showing me how to work the broadcast studio).
SoundStage1520 is the new stop for local Delaware
Valley musicians. Please get in touch!
